Yngve

I shot this recently with my grandfather Yngve, 98 years old.
He’s living in his own apartment in Stockholm. His apartment complex is constructed especially for senior citizens, with various types of adaptations to make everyday life easier. You will see a few of them in the pictures.

My grandfather enjoys reading and perhaps more than anything, to watch sports on the TV. In one picture you can spot a button-looking thing on his arm, that’s his security alarm, if he presses that button staff will come and make sure that he’s ok.

Sweden is a small country with a population of about 10 million, and of those about 20% are older than 65. By the year 2040 the swedish government estimates that that number will reach 23%.
Life expectancy is one of the highest in the world, 81 years for males and 84 years for females.
